Led by Public Relations Officer of LASU Student Union Government (SUG), Comrade Adebanjo Fatai, the students said they at the Government House with their matts and would sleep outside until their demands are met if the need be.

He said the student’s body is not part of the movement for or against Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor John Obafunwa and that crisis in management should not be visited on innocent students.

He said that upon service of 48 hours ultimatum on the Lagos State Government and management of the Lagos State University(LASU), management summoned a meeting but that  the student body insisted that they will not meet with them for lack of confidence and unsuitable venue.

According to him, any meeting by management with students should take place in the school since it has auditorium that can seat up to 5,000 students.

He said they were informed that the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola ordered continued closure of the school due to management issues with lecturers in the institution, adding that the students are ready for academic activities and want to graduate hence they are insisting on opening the school for academic activities.

They threatened to unleash other strategies towards realizing their aims if the Lagos State Government fails to open the school by Monday.
