A SERVING Metropolitan Police officer is set to appear in the dock this week accused of rape and serious violence against a woman.
Inspector Jason Wu, attached to Met Detention and based out of Colindale police station, faces two counts of rape and one count of causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent.
The 50-year-old senior cop has been suspended from active duty while legal proceedings take place.
He is scheduled to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, to face the charges.
Allegations and Investigation
The serious charges relate to alleged attacks against a single female victim spanning a two-year period, with offences said to have occurred in August 2019 and October 2021.
Detectives from the Met’s specialized public protection unit first launched an investigation into Inspector Wu after allegations were formally reported to police in June 2022.
Following an extensive, multi-year inquiry into the allegations, public protection detectives referred the case evidence file to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).
After reviewing the file, prosecutors authorized three formal charges against the officer:
Two counts of rape
One count of causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent
The decision led to a postal charge and requisition being served on Inspector Wu on Friday, May 15, 2026, ordering his mandatory court appearance.
Met Response and Next Steps
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that Inspector Wu was immediately placed on suspension from duty following the charges, pending the outcome of the criminal trial.
A Met Police spokesperson confirmed the details ahead of the court proceedings, noting that the investigation was handled internally by specialized detectives to ensure a thorough probe.
Wu’s court appearance on Wednesday will mark the first formal stage of the judicial process, where the case is expected to be sent to a Crown Court given the severity of the allegations.
