    Coronavirus takes 2131 lives in Brazil as Nigeria reports 44 cases

    LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) has confirmed 44 new cases of Coronavirus in the country, bringing all time cases to 167, 375.

    But out of the 167, 375 cases, 163, 917 patients have been treated successfully and discharged, while 2, 118 others could not make it alive, leaving Nigeria with 1340 active cases of Coronavirus pandemic.

    “#COVID19Nigeria case update as at Wednesday, 23rd June, 2021: 44 new cases of #COVID19Nigeria; Lagos-32; Rivers-8; FCT-2 and Plateau-2: 167,375 confirmed; 163,917 discharged and 2,118 deaths”, the NCDC has announced.

    There are now 179, 340, 109 confirmed cases of Coronavirus pandemic worldwide, 3, 885, 769 patients have passed on while 2, 723, 185, 006 doses of Coronavirus vaccines have been administered based on the latest updates from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland.

    According to the centre, the United States remains the most afflicted country, reporting 33,574, 677 confirmed cases, while 602, 740  patients have perished as a result of the pandemic(14, 166 new and 360 deaths*), followed by India which has documented 30, 028, 709  all time cases, while 390, 660  lives have been wasted(50, 848 new and 1358 deaths*) and Brazil which has registered 18, 054, 653  all time cases, while 504, 717 patients are no more(87, 822 new and 2131 deaths*).

    France has come up as the 4th country most hit, now reporting 5, 824, 117 all time cases, while 111,024 patients have kicked the bucket(2381 new and 33 deaths*), followed by Turkey which has reported 5, 387, 545 all time infections, while 49, 358  lives are no more(5809 new and 65 deaths*) and Russia which has registered 5, 306, 069 total infections, while 128, 719 patients have died from the pandemic(17,303 new and 539 deaths*).

    The United Kingdom remains the 7th country most hit by the pandemic, reporting 4, 683, 925  all time infections, while 128, 291 patients have lost their lives(15,906 new and 19 deaths*), followed by Argentina which has reported  4, 298, 782 all time infections, while 90,281  others are no more(21, 387 new and 791 deaths*) and Italy which has recorded 4, 255,434 all time cases, while 127,352 others are no more(1140 new and 30 deaths*).

    Colombia remains the 10th country most affected, reporting 3,997,021  all time cases, while 101,302 patients have passed on(28, 616 new*) and South Africa now (19th) most affected country, reporting 1, 861, 065 all time cases, while 59, 258 patients are already dead(17, 493 new and 166 deaths*).
