    Coronavirus cases spike in USA, UK, South Africa as Nigeria records 1565 cases in 24 hours

    LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 1565 new cases of Coronavirus, bringing all time cases in the country to 95, 934. But out of the 95, 934 all time cases, 77,982 patients have been treated and discharged while 1330 others could not make it alive.  Nigeria is now left with 16, 622 active cases of Coronavirus.

    Breakdown of the new cases is as follows, Lagos-807, FCT-236, Kaduna-79, Oyo-57, Plateau-47, Rivers-37, Katsina-35, Edo-30, Sokoto-30, Delta-26, Kebbi-23, Ondo-20, Enugu-18, Abia-17, Ogun-17, Benue-16, Bayelsa-15, Bauchi-14, Niger-13, Kano-10, Borno-6, Imo-5, Ekiti-4, Osun-2 and Jigawa-1, making a total of 1565 new cases of Coronavirus.

    “NCDC @NCDC gov 1565 new cases of #COVID19Nigeria; Lagos-807, FCT-236, Kaduna-79, Oyo-57, Plateau-47, Rivers-37, Katsina-35, Edo-30, Sokoto-30, Delta-26, Kebbi-23, Ondo-20, Enugu-18, Abia-17, Ogun-17, Benue-16, Bayelsa-15, Bauchi-14, Niger-13, Kano-10, Borno-6, Imo-5, Ekiti-4, Osun-2 and Jigawa-1; 95, 934 confirmed; 77,982 discharged; 1330 deaths”, the NCDC has announced.

     There are now 87, 792, 629 confirmed cases of Coronavirus globally,  1, 893,420 lives have been claimed by the virus, while 49, 009, 936 others have recovered. There are now 36, 889, 273 active cases of Coronavirus globally, the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland has reported.

    According to the centre, the United States remains the most affected country, reporting 21,503, 004 confirmed cases, 364,218 patients are already gone as a result of the virus(301, 366 new and 4, 625 deaths*), followed by  India which has reported  10, 395, 278 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, 150, 336 patients have been killed by the virus, while 10, 016,859 others have been treated and discharged, leaving India with 228, 083 active cases of Coronavirus(20, 346 new  and  222 deaths*), and Brazil which has reported 7, 873, 830 confirmations, 198, 974 patients are already dead, while  7, 074, 906 others have recovered, leaving Brazil with 599, 950 active cases of Coronavirus(63, 430 new and 1, 242 deaths*).

    Russia, which is next remains as the 4th country worst hit by the virus, reporting 3, 297, 833 confirmed cases,   59, 628 patients have already kicked the bucket while  2, 681, 373  others have been treated and discharged, leaving Russia with 556, 832 active cases of Coronavirus(23, 218 new and 491 deaths*), followed by the United Kingdom which has registered 2, 897, 904 confirmed cases since March, 2020, 78, 632 patients have passed on while only 6, 517 patients are fortunate to have survived the pandemic, leaving the UK with 2, 812, 755 patients still being  treated for Coronavirus(52, 668 new and 1162 deaths*) and France, which has reported 2, 763, 306 all time infections, 66, 700 patients have been killed by the virus, while 204,680 patients have recovered, leaving France with 2, 491, 926 Coronavirus patients to cater for(233 new and 1 death*).

    Turkey is the 7th country worst hit, reporting  2, 296, 102 confirmations, 22, 264 deaths, while 2, 172, 251 have recovered, leaving Turkey with 101, 587 active cases of Coronavirus(12, 178 new and 194 deaths*), followed by Italy, which has reported 2, 220, 361 all time cases, 77, 291 deaths, while 1, 572, 015 patients have been treated and discharged, leaving Italy with 571, 055 active cases of Coronavirus(18, 416 new and 414 deaths*) and Spain, which has documented 2, 024, 904 confirmed cases since inception, 51, 675 patients are no more, while 150, 376 remains the number of patients that have recovered, leaving Spain with 1, 822, 853 Coronavirus patients to cater for(42, 360 new and 345 deaths*).

    Germany is the 10th country most hit by the virus, reporting 1, 869, 262 all time infections, 38, 304 patients have passed on, while 1, 500,469 patients have been treated successfully and discharged, leaving Germany with 330, 489 active cases of Coronavirus(28, 381 new and 990 deaths*) and South Africa, now 16th country worst hit, reporting 1, 170,590 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, 31, 809 patients have passed away, while 938, 216 patients have been treated and discharged, leaving South Africa with 200, 565 active cases of Coronavirus(42, 831 new and 1285 deaths*).
