    Coronavirus in Nigeria: 389 new, 8733, Deaths now over 100 000 in US

    LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 389 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 8733.

    Out of the total number, 2501 patients have recovered and subsequently discharged, while 254 others could not make it alive.

    However, a breakdown of the 389 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria shows that 256 patients were discovered in Lagos, 23 in Katsina, 22 in Edo, 14 in Rivers, 13 in Kano, 11 in Adamawa, 11 in Akwa Ibom, 7 in Kaduna,  6 in Kwara, 6 in Nasarawa, 2 in Gombe, 2 in Plateau, 2 in Abia, 2 in Delta, 2 in Benue, 2 in Niger, 2 in Oyo, 1 in Imo, 1 in Borno, 1 in Ogun and 1 in Anambra State.

    “NCDC 389 new cases of #COVID19; Lagos-256, Katsina-23, Edo-22, Rivers-14, Kano-13, Adamawa-11, Akwa Ibom-11, Kaduna-7, Kwara-6, Nasarawa-6, Gombe-2, Plateau-2, Abia-2, Delta-2, Benue-2, Niger-2, Kogi-2, Oyo-2, Imo-1, Borno-1, Ogun-1, Anambra-1, 8733 cases of #COVID19Nigeria. Discharged: 2501, Deaths: 254”, the NCDC has said of Coronavirus in Nigeria.

    Globally, there are 5, 682, 389 confirmed cases with 354, 944 deaths based on figures from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, John Hopkins University, Maryland.

    According to the centre, the United States still maintains the lead among the most affected nations in the world, reporting 1, 697,459 confirmed cases with 100, 271 deaths, followed by Brazil with 411, 821 confirmed cases with 25, 598 deaths.

    Next is Russia, which has reported 370, 680 confirmed cases of Coronavirus while  3, 968 patients have died, followed by United Kingdom, which has reported 268, 616 confirmed cases while 37, 542 patients have passed on, followed by Spain with a total of 236, 259 confirmed cases with 27, 117  deaths.

    Next in the list of most affected countries is Italy, which currently has 231, 139 confirmed cases with 33,072 deaths. China, which currently occupies the 14th spot has reported 84, 104 confirmed cases of the Coronavirus pandemic, 4,638 deaths, while  79, 361 patients have recovered and subsequently discharged, leaving China with 105 cases of Coronavirus.
