    Coronavirus claims 3847 lives in Brazil as Nigeria report 45 cases

    LAGOS – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 45 new cases of Coronavirus pandemic, bringing all time cases to 166,191.

    But out of the 166,191 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, 156,535 patients have been treated and discharged, while  2,071 others could not make it alive, leaving Nigeria with 7585 active cases of Coronavirus.

    Breakdown of the new cases is as follows, Lagos-27, Rivers-14, Kaduna-2, Jigawa-1 and  Ekiti-1, making a total of 45 new cases of Coronavirus.

    “NCDC@NCDC gov 45 new cases of #COVID19Nigeria; Lagos-27, Rivers-14, Kaduna-2, Jigawa-1 and  Ekiti-1 ;166,191 confirmed 156,535 discharged 2,071 deaths”, the NCDC has announced.

    There are now 158, 593, 044 confirmed cases of Coronavirus worldwide, 3, 502, 700  patients have passed on while 1, 771, 172, 748  doses of vaccines have been administered worldwide based on the latest statistics from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland.

    According to the centre,  the United States still remains the most afflicted worldwide, reporting 33, 209, 921  confirmed cases of Coronavirus pandemic, while 593, 108 patients have passed on(22, 625 new and 1186 deaths*), followed by India which has documented 27, 369, 093 active cases of Coronavirus, while 315,235 patients have lost their lives as a result of the pandemic(211, 298 new and 3847 deaths*) and Brazil which has registered 16, 274, 695 all time cases, while 454, 429  patients  have passed on(10,000 new*).

    France remains the 4th country  most hit by the pandemic, now reporting 5, 697, 076  all time cases, while 109, 327 patients are no longer alive(13, 944 new and 143 deaths*), followed by Turkey, which has documented  5, 220, 549  confirmations, while 46, 970  patients have been killed by the pandemic(8426 new and 183 deaths*) and Russia with 4, 977, 332  all time infections, while 117, 990 patients have lost their lives to the pandemic(8911 new and 395 deaths*).

    The United Kingdom has come up as the 7th country most hit, reporting  4, 489, 550 all time cases, while 128, 020 patients have been killed by the pandemic(3386 new and 10 deaths*), followed by  Italy which has registered 4, 205, 970  confirmed cases, while 125, 793 patients are no longer alive(4143 new and 171 deaths*) and Germany which has reported 3, 673, 969  all time cases, while 88,043  patients have been killed by the pandemic(6928 new and 246 deaths*).

    Spain has reported 3, 663, 176  all time infections while 79, 888 patients are no more(5290 new and 33 deaths*) and South Africa with 1, 645, 555 all time cases, while 56,077 South Africans have been killed by the virus(7707 new and 101 deaths*).
