    Coronavirus: 325 new in Nigeria, U.K locked in misery of poor recoveries, see top cases

    LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 325 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, making a total of 48,770 confirmed cases in the country.

    Out of the 48, 770 confirmed cases, 36,290 patients have been discharged, while 974 others could not make it alive, leaving Nigeria with 11, 506 patients in isolation centres.

    Breakdown of the new cases is as  follows, Lagos-87, Abuja-49, Gombe-28, Ebonyi-20, Plateau-19, Kwara-18, Enugu-17, Imo-12, Rivers-12, Kaduna-11,Ogun-10,  Edo-9, Oyo-9, Ondo-8, Osun-8, Ekiti-4,Borno-1, Kano-1, Bauchi-1 and Nasarawa-1, making a total of 325 new cases of the pandemic.

     “NCDC@NCDC gov 325 new cases of #COVID19Nigeria; Lagos-87, FCT-49, Gombe-28, Ebonyi-20, Plateau-19, Kwara-18, Enugu-17, Imo-12, Rivers-12, Kaduna-11,Ogun-10,  Edo-9, Oyo-9, Ondo-8, Osun-8, Ekiti-4,Borno-1, Kano-1, Bauchi-1, Nasarawa-1; 48,770 confirmed; 36,290 discharged; 974 deaths”, the NCDC said in a statement.

    Meanwhile, there are now 21, 295,429 confirmed cases worldwide,  767,714 deaths, while 13, 295, 750  patients  have recovered, the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland has reported.

    According to the centre, the United States remains number one in the league of most affected countries, reporting 5, 345, 610 confirmed cases, 169, 146 deaths, while 1, 796,326 people are now healthy, leaving the US with 3,380, 138 active cases of Coronavirus(46,731 new cases), followed by Brazil with 3, 275, 520 confirmations, 106,523 deaths, while 2, 587,  612 people who were sick are now doing well.

    Brazil is now left with 581, 385 patients receiving treatment (50, 644 new cases), followed by India with 2, 526, 192 confirmed cases, 55, 908 deaths, while 1, 808,936 people have recovered, leaving India with 661, 348 patients still undergoing treatment (65,002 new cases).

    Russia is in the third place, reporting 915, 808 confirmed cases, 15, 585 deaths, while 727, 895 patients are now doing fine, leaving Russia with 172, 328 active cases of the pandemic, followed by South Africa which has reported 579, 140 confirmed cases, 11, 556 deaths, while  461,734 patients who were being treated have been declared fine, leaving South Africa with 105,850  people still receiving treatment in the hospital, followed by  Peru with 516, 296 confirmations, 25, 856 deaths,  while 354,  232 patients receiving treatments have been given a clean slate, leaving Peru with 136, 208 patients on sick bed.

    Mexico  is 7th in the league of most affected countries, reporting 511, 369 confirmed cases,  55, 908 deaths, while  410, 479 patients  have been discharged, leaving Mexico with 44, 982 patients in the hospitals receiving treatment. Colombia (8) is next, reporting  445, 111 confirmed cases,  14, 492 deaths, while 261, 296 patients  have  been given clean bill of health, leaving Colombia with  169, 323 patients still on treatment in the hospitals.  Chile, 9th in the ranks, has reported 383, 902 cases since the outset of the pandemic,  10, 395 deaths, while 356,951 patients have recovered, leaving Chile with 16, 556  cases in the hospitals, followed by Spain(10) with 342, 813 cases since the pandemic began,  28, 617 deaths, while  150, 376 people have been discharged, leaving Spain with 163, 820 patients on hospital beds.

    Iran is on the 11th spot in the unfortunate league, reporting 341, 070 confirmed cases,  19, 492 deaths, while 295, 630 patients have been declared fit and discharged, leaving Iran with 26, 011 patients still undergoing treatment in the hospitals, followed by the United Kingdom(12) with  318, 193 cases since the outset of the virus in the U.K, 46, 791 deaths,  while only  1, 483 patients have been declared well and fit to go home since the first cases was recorded in the U.K, leaving the country with  269, 919 patients in the various hospital undergoing treatment(2, 589 new cases).

    The situation in the U.K should interest the World Health Organisation(WHO).  The U.K has the highest rate of casualty in Europe,  with over 200,000 active cases, rising new cases with recovery just too slow compared with pears, like Spain and  Italy, a development which  only shows that something is not right with management of the pandemic in the U.K.

     Italy is 17th in the league, with 253, 438 confirmed cases, 35, 392 deaths, while 203, 640 patients have been given clean bill of health, leaving Italy with 14, 406 patients  in hospitals(629 new cases), followed by France (18) with 249, 655 confirmed cases, 30, 410 deaths, while 83, 993 patients have been discharged, leaving France with 135, 252 patients in hospitals(44 new cases).

    China has now been pushed to number 32 in the rank of most affected countries in the world.  China has reported 89, 262 cases since the outset of the pandemic, 4, 701 deaths, while 83, 051 patients have recovered, leaving China with 1, 510 patients in the hospitals.
