    Coronavirus: 143 dead in Nigeria, spike in Russia, see deaths in top 4

    Deaths: US -79, 528, UK – 31, 930, Italy- 30, 560, Spain-26, 621

    LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) has confirmed 248 new cases of Coronavirus in the country, making a total of 4,399 cases in Nigeria.

    But out of the 4,399 cases, 778 patients have been treated and discharged while 143 others could not make it.

    However, a breakdown of the new figure shows that 81 new cases were discovered in Lagos, 35 in Jigawa, 26 in Borno, 26 in Kano, 20 in Bauchi, 13 in Abuja, 12 in Edo, 10 in Sokoto, 7 in Zamfara, 4 in Kwara, 4 in Kebbi, 2 in Gombe, 2 in Taraba, 2 in Ogun , 2 in Ekiti, 1 in Osun State and 1 in Bayelsa State making a total of 248 new cases.

    “NCDC 248 new cases of #COVID19; 81-Lagos 35-Jigawa 26-Borno 26-Kano 20-Bauchi 13-FCT 12-Edo 10-Sokoto 7-Zamfara 4-Kwara 4-Kebbi 2-Gombe 2-Taraba 2-Ogun 2-Ekiti 1-Osun 1-Bayelsa 4399 cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria Discharged: 778 Deaths: 143”, the NCDC has said.

    Globally, there are currently 4, 166, 767 confirmed cases, while 282, 872 patients are dead based on statistics from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, John Hopkins University, Maryland.

    According to the centre, the United States(US) still remains the most affected country on earth in terms of population affected and the total number of deaths.

    The US now has 1, 329, 799 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, while 79, 528 people are dead, followed by Spain, which now reports 224, 350 confirmed cases with 26, 621 deaths.

    Russia has shot up to the the third place in the world with a total of 221, 344 confirmed cases with 2,009 deaths. Next is United Kingdom with a total of 229, 449 confirmed cases while 31, 930 people are dead. Italy now has 219, 070 confirmed cases with 30, 560 deaths.

    China where the pandemic started has , 84, 010, confirmed cases of Coronavirus 4,637 deaths, while 79, 167 patients have recovered, leaving China with 677 cases. China recorded new cases of the virus after a sharp drop for weeks.
