UMUAHIA, Abia, Nigeria – All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), governorship Candidate in Abia State, Prof. Gregory Ibe has charged the 24 candidates for Abia state house of assembly in the party to be agents of transformation and social change in their various constituencies.
According to him, this is in line with the party’s humanitarian ideology and posture. Prof Gregory Ibe gave the charge during a strategic consultation meeting with the candidates at his campaign headquarters in Umuahia.
The APGA Governorship hopeful reiterated that the populist agenda of the party was anchored on the ‘onye aghala nwanneya‘ ideology and mantra.
He encouraged the candidates to partner him in touching the lives of Abians with well articulated social intervention programmes.
Decrying the current deplorable condition of road infrastructure within Abia, Prof Ibe stated that he intends to commence palliative grading of rural access roads around the state once the dry season sets in.
He also appealed to the house of assembly candidates to partner with him in ensuring that critical access roads, especially those that would stimulate the business activities of their constituents are captured during the palliative exercise.
In their separate responses, they appreciated Prof Ibe for his sacrificial approach to leadership,” which has continued to manifest through the execution of several social intervention programmes”.
They commended him for the successful conduct of his free medical outreach and award of university scholarship in their constituents. They assured him of their preparedness to partner him in extending more social intervention packages to the people.
The meeting was attended by the deputy governorship candidate of the party, Hon Obinna Ichita, key members of Prof Gregory Ibe Campaign Organization and some APGA chieftains.
Since his arrival to the state from a foreign trip, Prof Ibe has held several meetings with different organs of APGA in Abia state including the just concluded two day retreat for all candidates of the party at state and national levels.
