ONITSHA, Nigeria – Director-General of National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), Brig-General Shuaibu Ibrahim has warned corps members deployed to Anambra State to keep away from any act of religious and tribal bigotry.
He gave the warning on Thursday during the official inauguration of Anambra state NYSC permanent orientation Camp and swearing in ceremony of 2020 Batch ‘A’ stream one corps members deployed to the state at the Umuawulu/Mbakwu permanent site Awka South Local Government Area of the state .
He said the issue of religious and tribal bigotry most not be tolerated at the NYSC camp for any reason.According to him, the purpose of the scheme was to create unity and bonding among the Nigerian youths.

” Let me warn you, this place is not for religious and tribal reason. The purpose of NYSC is to create unity and bond among you. We cannot tolerate any act of religious bigotry in this camp” he warned. He also warned corps members against unnecessary traveling, stating that most of the deaths that occur during service year are as results of road accident.
“I warned you, on no condition shall you seek permission from your employer to travel without approval from the state coordinator. It is only the coordinator that can approve any travel permission within the country and the only the director general that can approve travelling outside the country. Any violator of these directives , would be published accordingly” he said.
He urged the corps members to be disciplined while on camp and avoid any act capable of tarnishing their images and future. According to him, parents have invest much in the training of corps members and urged them to be careful in what they do on camp and after.

He also warned staff against exporting money from corps members, saying that NYSC would deal decisively with any person found collecting or giving bribe to any body on camp and throughout the service year.
