Lagos State Government says it has compensated the land owners who were victims of the 2012 Iju-Ishaga plane crash as it has turned the landed property acquired at the site into monument for the remembrance of the crashed victims.

This was disclosed by the State Commissioner for Special Duties, Dr. Wale Ahmed at the news briefing to commemorate the 3rd year of the 2nd term in office of Mr. Babtunde Fashola administration in the State.

He said the compensation for the air crash victims are not to be paid by the State Government but the necessary authority in tune with the provision of the aviation industry.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner said the Ikeja bomb blast victims have all being compensated fully adding that the new emerging team making claim on the bomb blast will be fully investigated adding if found worthy would be compensated.

Dr, Ahmed further disclosed that in order not to have a misleading data at any emergency centre, teh State had a stakeholders meeting on emergency control and management and has agreed that most senior Government official at the scene of emergency should be the official spokes person.

He said that interested Corp Members in the State now enjoyed free vocational training during orientation camp which is aimed at empowering them in job creation and self reliance after their youth service programme.

Dr, Ahmed said to boost the morale of youth corps members in the teaching profession and stem urban migration, NYSC members in the rural area of the State and those serving in public schools are paid N15, 000 as against the N10, 000 paid to those who are in offices.

The Commissioner unveiled that his Ministry has trained 460 graduates from the Skill Acquisition Centres for the purpose of self reliance in catering, Leather trade, fashion designing, soap making/cosmetics, metal fabrication, beads/ hat making, Electrical/Electronics and Hair dressing adding that most of these graduates are now entrepreneurs.

Meanwhile, the State will in September this year receive its 25 indigenous students that will be graduating on joint scholarship of the Federal and State Government studying Nautical Sciences, Maritime Engineering, Management of Economics and International Transport logistics and Maritime Safety in the Graduate Logistics Course Scheme in Egypt aiming at exploring the maritime opportunity of the State.
