QATAR – The Teranga Lions of Senegal roared on Friday when they took on the very tim Qatar in their 3-1 victory at the Qatar 2022 FIFA World cup.
This victory is the first win by an African team at the tournament.
It indeed ended well as speculated by many but it was a very poor outing by the host, Qatar. Defensive blunder by the Qatari team earned Senegal the first goal in the 41st minutes, with Dia taking good advantage of the opportunity to put his team ahead.
Diedhiou made it 2-0 seven minutes later.
Muntari reduced the tally when he scored the opener for his side putting scores at 1-2. But his celebration was shortlived whend Dieng hit the back of the Qatari net to solidify his team’s win in the 84th minutes, putting the scoreline at 3-1.
Qatar struggled to reduce the tally but it was to no avail until end of the encounter which was very crucial for both teams.
