ABUJA, Nigeria – The Nigerian Senate has suspended Senator representing Bauchi Central, Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi for a period of three months over his utterance on padding of the 2024 Budget Appropriation.

Senator Abdul Ningi had alleged that the budget passed by the National Assembly for the 2024 fiscal year is N25 trillion whereas the one being implemented by the Presidency is N28.7 trillion.

As result of the raucous created by utterance of the Senators , the Senate at their plenary session today decided to suspend him.

Motion to suspend Ningi was moved by Senator Musa Maidoki, representing Kebbi Central constituency and seconded by Senator Muhammed Sani Musa, Niger East Constituency.

“My prayer is the suspension of the senator for 3 months but if he writes apology to the senate, he should be recalled the following day”, Senator Maidoki moved during the sitting presided over by President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio.

His motion was seconded by Senator Muhammed Sani Musa, Niger East, who informed the house that  instead of suspending him for the 12 months,  Ningi should be given three months suspension and to give room for him to apologise.

“If he does that this Senate has the right to call him back”, he moved.
