It wasn’t just a win; it was a statement. Under the sweltering heat of the Gateway Stadium in Ijebu-Ode, Remo Stars produced a performance that lived up to their name, twinkling with brilliance while leaving Niger Tornadoes in a cloud of dust.
Coming into the match with the pressure of the drop zone looming like a dark cloud, the Sky Blue Stars didn’t just find a silver lining—they struck gold. A clinical 3-0 victory has not only secured three vital points but has injected a massive dose of belief into the Remo faithful.
From the first whistle, the intent was clear. Remo’s stars aligned early when Victor Mbaoma found the back of the net in the 10th minute, coolly slotting home to settle any lingering nerves. The early lead allowed the home side to dictate the tempo, with their midfield moving the ball with the kind of zip that left the Tornadoes chasing shadows.
Just before the break, the stadium erupted again. Olamilekan Adedayo doubled the advantage in the 29th minute, a strike of pure quality that signaled the beginning of the end for the visitors.
Tornadoes, usually so sturdy, were found wanting as Remo’s attacking trio tore through their defensive lines with surgical precision.
The second half saw more of the same dominance. While the visitors tried to regroup, they were met by a Remo defense that was as stubborn as a London traffic jam.
The icing on the cake came courtesy of Samuel Anakwe, who made it three and effectively “put the lights out” on any hope of a Niger comeback.
This win is more than just a scoreline; it’s a lifeline. Remo Stars have officially climbed out of the relegation mire, leapfrogging their way up the table and proving they belong in the top flight.
For Niger Tornadoes, it was a day to forget. Blown away by a superior force, they head back north with plenty of questions and very few answers. But for the boys from Ikenne, the message is simple: The Stars are rising.
