NIGERIA’S political landscape has been rocked by a series of bombshell predictions from former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, who claims the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will “die” without the inclusion of Peter Obi.

Speaking in a candid interview on Arise News, the firebrand politician—known for his blunt assessment of the Nigerian power structure—delivered a stark warning to the ADC as they prepare for the 2027 General Elections.

    The ‘Obi Factor’
Fayose, 65, argued that the ADC’s survival depends entirely on the former Labour Party presidential candidate. He claimed that Peter Obi is currently the “only life” within the party, drawing parallels to how Obi single-handedly transformed the Labour Party (LP) from an obscure entity into a national powerhouse during the 2023 cycle.

”Before Peter Obi went to Labour Party, the party was nowhere,” Fayose said. “He brought traction. He went there and they won elections everywhere.”

While Fayose remained neutral on Obi’s chances of ultimate victory in 2027, he was adamant that any coalition or party structure excluding him would face a fate “worse than their coming together.”

    Wike: Tinubu’s Abuja Enforcer
Turning his attention to the ongoing rift in Rivers State, Fayose claimed that President Bola Tinubu has already chosen his side.

He stated that the President will always prefer Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), over the current Rivers Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

According to Fayose, Wike’s value to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is pragmatic: “Wike as Minister of FCT has helped APC to win elections in Abuja.”
    Defection Shock
In perhaps his most stunning revelation, Fayose predicted a major shift in the South-West geopolitical zone.

He claimed that the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, is destined to join the ruling APC.

Such a move would represent a catastrophic blow to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), effectively handing the APC total control over one of Nigeria’s most strategically vital states.

The interview comes at a time of extreme volatility in Nigerian politics.

Peter Obi recently officially moved to the ADC in late 2025, a move that triggered a wave of defections from the Labour Party.

The ADC Coalition: The party has become a rallying point for opposition figures, including former Senate President David Mark.

Fayose’s comments reflect a growing consensus that the ADC is a “shell” party being filled by Obi’s “Obidient” movement.

The Wike-Fubara Feud: The battle for Rivers State has been the most violent and legally complex political struggle of the last two years.

Fayose’s assertion that Tinubu backs Wike confirms long-held suspicions that the FCT Minister is being protected in exchange for delivering electoral results.

The 2027 Chessboard: Fayose’s prediction regarding Seyi Makinde aligns with Makinde’s recent criticisms of the PDP national leadership, suggesting the “G-5” governors’ alliance may finally be merging fully into the APC.
