Nigeria, May 11, 2016 – The Rivers State Police Command has discredited media reports suggesting attack and attempted jailbreak in a Port Harcourt Prison.

In a statement, image maker of the command, DSP Ahmad Muhammad said the story aired on SilverBird Television on Tuesday 10/05/2016 is not true.

“Consequently, the Command wish to state categorically that the story is untrue and that it did not happened at all.

“No wonder the news story woefully failed far below journalistic standards by not carrying the confirmation of the concerned authority”, he said.

He enjoined members of the public to discountenance the story in its entirety.
“The Command hereby solicits for the continues co-operation of the media to verify the truthfulness of news items before making them public so as not to create needless panic as in this case”, he said.
