Lagos, Nigeria, Oct 24, 2016 – Justice Atinuke Ipaye of a Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja today sentenced , Tajudeen Soneye, also known as Baba Seriki to 10 years imprisonment for raping an 8 year old girl.
Tajudeen who is married with one wife and five children was arrested on June 15, 2013 at Iyora primary school Badejoko street Ketu.Baba Seriki who pleaded not guilty was earlier on one count charge of rape by the Lagos State government.
The Prosecution, Mr.Akin George, told the court that the convict sent the victim on an errand to buy cigarettes for him, but that when she came back with the cigarettes the convict removed her cloth pushed her on the bed and had sex with her.
He also threatened to harm the little girl if she tells any one. She also claimed that it was not the first time the convict was having sex with her.
The prosecution also told court that the victim did not speak out not until when she resumed school on Monday when a teacher noticed the way she was walking and was not smart about walking.
“The school took her to hospital where she was confirmed to have been raped. It was the school that raised the alarm which led to the arrest of the convict”, he told the court. Her lordship, justice Ipaye sentenced him to 10 years imprisonment.
