LAGOS, Nigeria – The celebrated Commissioner of Police, Kano State, Mr. Mohammad Wakil has said he has not been transferred out of Kano State, contrary to media reports.

The media had been filled with reports that he has been transferred to Zamfara by forces in the Nigeria Police who are averse to his desires to allow the will of the people to prevail in Kano State.

Wakil was reported to have arrested Deputy Governor of Kano State, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna who allegedly visited the Collation centre in Kano while collation was ongoing and attempted to snatch the result sheet before he was arrested by the commissioner of police along with some of his aides.

But speaking on Star FM, today via telephone from Kano, Mohammad Wakil said the story is not true and that he is heading to a venue where he will address the press on the issue.

He said he decided to stay on the side of the truth because has opted to serve the country and that he has no other country to call his own and that no matter what happened death is inevitable and that we will all render an account of our lives some day.
