EU BOSS António Costa today launched a blistering attack on “power politics,” taking aim at the United States for “challenging” the world order and threatening a bizarre takeover of Greenland.
In a fiery speech to top diplomats, the European Council President warned that the days of global bullies are over, insisting that Europe will no longer be pushed around by Washington, Moscow, or Beijing.
Costa used the high-stakes summit to highlight the EU’s “firm and effective” response to American threats against Greenland, citing it as proof that a united Europe can stand up to superpower pressure.
The EU chief didn’t hold back on the escalating chaos in the Middle East, pinning the blame firmly on Iran for the “root causes” of the current bloodshed.
He issued a stern warning to Tehran and its Hezbollah “proxies” to stop attacks on Cyprus—an EU member state—praising Greece, France, Italy, and Spain for scrambled military forces to protect the island.
“Unilateralism can never be the path forward,” Costa declared, warning that the only person winning the current Middle East conflict is Vladimir Putin.
Costa claimed the Russian tyrant is “profiting” from the world’s distracted gaze, using rising energy prices to fund his five-year-long “war of aggression” against Ukraine.
Despite the tough talk on sovereignty, Costa extended an olive branch to the UK.
He hailed Britain as a “like-minded democracy” and a “strategic asset” in a world increasingly split by “polarisation and fragmentation.”
He signaled that the EU is eager to deepen cooperation with London to help stabilise a world where “Russia violates peace” and “China disrupts trade.”
