A MET police officer has been sensationally booted from the force today after sexually assaulting a woman in a London pub.

PC Jason Capery, attached to the Central West Basic Command Unit, was sacked without notice following a misconduct hearing that found his behavior breached professional standards.

The disgraced cop was off-duty at a pub in Marylebone when he targeted a woman known to him. The court heard how Capery’s night out turned criminal when he subjected his victim to “sexual assault by touching.”

Last month, Capery stood before Westminster Magistrates’ Court and pleaded guilty to the assault. On Friday, March 6, he was slapped with a 12-month community order and ordered to pay £199 in court fees.

The Met moved swiftly to hold a misconduct hearing today, Tuesday, March 10, where the panel decided he was no longer fit to wear the uniform.

Detective Chief Superintendent Christina Jessah, lead for policing in central west London, slammed the officer’s actions.

”The actions of PC Capery fell well below the standards expected for a serving police officer,” she said. “Women deserve to feel safe in London. There is no place for inappropriate behaviour within the Met.”

    Background: A Force Under Fire
This dismissal comes as the Metropolitan Police continues its grueling battle to restore public trust following a series of high-profile scandals involving serving officers.

Since the 2023 Casey Review, which found the Met to be “institutionally misogynist and racist,” the force has been under intense pressure to weed out “bad apples.”

Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley has vowed to sack any officer who fails to meet the highest standards, with hundreds of officers currently under investigation for domestic and sexual misconduct.

The Marylebone assault is yet another blow to the Met’s “New Met for London” plan, which aims to improve the safety of women and girls across the capital.
