Matters being resolved   – Comrade Nwosu

    Our Reporters  l Wednesday, 19 August 2020

AWKA, Anambra, Nigeria – Members of the public have been told to disregard the purported strike embarked upon by some operators in the oil and gas market in Anambra State.

In a release made available  to us, the State Government urged the public to discountenance a section of the industry in Anambra who are fanning the flames of discord between the unions and the state for self-centred reasons.

The document signed by the senior special assistant, SSA, to Gov. Willie Obiano, on Petroleum and Union Matters (NUPENG), Peter Nwosu, called on all the Petroleum Marketers in Anambra State not to shut down their businesses today because of a trivial issue that is already being  tackled effectively.

“I want to reassure them that Anambra State under the leadership of able Governor Chief Dr, Maduaburochukwu Willie Obiano and Anambra State Government are on top of the matter, exploring all initiatives to resolve their matter”, stated Comrade Nwosu.

The veteran labour leader in the oil and gas sector also asked owners of  businesses in Anambra State “not to panic,” adding that “If anyone is aggrieved or has concerns on taxation,” such individual or group has been provided ample avenues “to channel their grievances to the appropriate authorities”.

He added that Anambra State Government operate an open door policy.

“Anambra State Government is not interested in chasing anyone out of business. Rather some unscrupulous individuals are trying to hijack the revenue arm of the Anambra State Government thus leading to the issue with taxation.”

According to him, the crust of matter is that the state government has resolved not to “tolerate such unscrupulous acts, any longer,” in other to serve the people better as they expect of their government.

Nwosu urged all law-abiding stakeholder in the industry to go about his business and “be rest assured that Anambra State under the administration of our able Governor Maduaburochukwu Willie Obiano is committed to the Petroleum Marketers of the State.”
