    Coronavirus: Nigeria 143 new 11, 357 active as India gets 78,512 new cases

    New cases at a glance

    LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) has confirmed 143 new cases of Coronavirus bringing the total number in the country to 54,008 cases.

    But out of the 54,008 all time cases, 41,638 patients have been discharged, while 1,013  others could not  make it alive, leaving Nigeria with 11, 357 active cases of Coronavirus.

    Breakdown of the new cases is as follows, Plateau-35, Kaduna-21,  Lagos-19,  FCT-13,  Ebonyi-9, Adamawa-7,  Enugu-7,  Katsina-7,  Edo-6,  Kwara-5,  Osun-3,  Anambra-2,  Kano-2,  Niger-2,  Ogun-2,  Benue-1,  Borno-1 and Sokoto-1, making a total of 143 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria.

    “NCDC@NCDCgov143 new cases of #COVID19Nigeria; Plateau-35, Kaduna-21,  Lagos-19,  FCT-13,  Ebonyi-9, Adamawa-7,  Enugu-7,  Katsina-7,  Edo-6,  Kwara-5,  Osun-3,  Anambra-2,  Kano-2,  Niger-2,  Ogun-2,  Benue-1,  Borno-1,  Sokoto-1; 54,008 confirmed 41,638 discharged 1,013 deaths”, the NCDC said in a statement.

    Globally, there are currently 25, 349, 528 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, 848,394 deaths, while 16, 703, 911 others have survived the pandemic, the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland has reported.


    According to the centre, the United States remains number one among the most afflicted countries and has just crossed 6 million confirmed cases. Specifically, there are currently 6, 027, 111 all time cases, 183, 499 deaths and 2, 184, 825 recoveries, leaving the US with 3, 658, 787 patients still in need of medical attention(36, 146 new cases), followed by Brazil with 3, 862,311 confirmed cases, 120, 828 deaths and 3, 237,615 recoveries, leaving Brazil with 503, 868 patients needing medical attention to get back on their feet(16, 158 new cases), followed by India which has reported 3, 621, 245 all time cases of Coronavirus, 64, 469 deaths, while 2, 774, 801 others have survived the pandemic, leaving India with 781, 975 patients to treat for the virus(78, 512 new cases).


    Russia is next with 992, 402 confirmed cases, 17, 128 deaths, while 807, 339 patients have been given clean bill of health, leaving Russia with 167, 935 Coronavirus patients, followed by Peru with 647,166 confirmed cases, 28, 788 deaths, while 455, 457 others have overcome the pandemic, leaving Peru with 162, 921 patients in need of medical attention and South Africa with 627,041 confirmed cases, 14, 149 deaths while 540, 923 others are now healthy, leaving South Africa with 71, 969 patients to treat for the pandemic(1,945 new cases).

    Colombia is next with 607, 904 all time cases, 19, 363 deaths and 450,609 recoveries, leaving Colombia with 137, 932 active cases of the pandemic(8,020 new cases), followed by Mexico which has documented 595, 841 confirmed cases, 64, 158 deaths while 489, 724 others have been given clean bill of health, leaving Mexico with 41, 959 patients hoping to survive the pandemic(4, 129 new cases), and then Spain with 462, 858 confirmed cases, 29,094 deaths, while 150, 376 patients have been cured, leaving Spain with 283, 388 Coronavirus patients(23, 572 new cases).


    Argentina is next with 417,735 all time cases, 8,660 deaths, while 301, 195 others have been able to overcome, leaving Argentina with 107, 880 patients on medication hoping to overcome the pandemic(16, 496 new cases), followed by Chile with 411, 726 confirmed cases, 11, 289 deaths and 383, 879 recoveries, leaving Chile with 16, 558 Coronavirus patients and Iran with 375,212 confirmed cases, 21, 571 deaths, while 323,233 others have been discharged, leaving Iran with 30, 408 patients to cater for.

    The United Kingdom, the most affected country in the Europe has documented 338,079 all time cases, 41, 588 deaths, while only 1, 680 patients have been assisted out of the pandemic since the first cases was reported, leaving the UK with 294, 811 Coronavirus patients(1, 438 new cases), followed by France in the 14th spot in the ranks of most affected countries. France has reported 318,895 all time cases, 30, 640 deaths and 86, 787 recoveries, leaving France with 201, 468 patients in urgent need of medical attention(3, 082 new cases) and then Italy(19) with 269, 214 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, 35, 483 all time deaths, while 207,653 patients have recovered, leaving Italy with 26, 078 Coronavirus patients(996 new cases) and then China where the pandemic was first reported.
    China(34) has reported 89, 907 all time cases, 4, 723 deaths while 84, 568 others have been healed, leaving China with 616 active cases of the pandemic.
