    Coronavirus kills 20 in 24 hours in Nigeria

    LAGOS  – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC has confirmed 506 new cases of Coronavirus in the country, bringing all time cases to 139,748. But out of the 139,748 confirmed cases,  113,525 patients have been treated and discharged, while 1,667 others could not make it alive, leaving Nigeria with 24, 556 active cases. Twenty (20) patients have died of Coronavirus in the last 24 hours in Nigeria.

    Breakdown of the new cases is as follows, Ondo-90, Kwara-89, Rivers-53, Borno-45, Gombe-32, FCT-28, Imo-26, Ogun-25, Lagos-22, Kaduna-14, Kano-14, Edo-13, Osun-11, Cross River-10, Yobe-9, Ekiti-7, Kebbi-6, Nasarawa-6, Oyo-5 and Jigawa-1, making a total of 506 new cases of Coronavirus.

    “NCDC@NCDC gov506 new cases of #COVID19Nigeria; Ondo-90, Kwara-89, Rivers-53, Borno-45, Gombe-32, FCT-28, Imo-26, Ogun-25, Lagos-22, Kaduna-14, Kano-14, Edo-13, Osun-11, Cross River-10, Yobe-9, Ekiti-7, Kebbi-6, Nasarawa-6, Oyo-5 and Jigawa-1; 139,748 confirmed; 113,525 discharged; 1,667 deaths”, the NCDC has announced.

    There are now 106, 008, 375 confirmed cases of Coronavirus worldwide, 2,313,677 lives have been wasted by the pandemic, while 59, 059,105 others have been  treated and discharged. The world is now left with 44, 635, 593 active cases of Coronavirus based on the latest statistics released by the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland.

    According to the centre, the United States remains the most afflicted country, reporting 26, 986,827 confirmed cases, while 463,188 lives have been lost in the US alone as a result of the pandemic(94, 346 new and 1463 deaths*), followed by India which has documented 10, 826,363 confirmed cases, 154, 996 patients have passed on while 10, 522,601 others have recovered and therefore discharged, leaving India with 148, 766 active cases of Coronavirus(12, 059 new and 78 deaths*) and Brazil which has reported 9, 447,165 confirmations, 230, 034 patients have lost their lives since the outset of the pandemic, while 8, 447,164 others have been treated and discharged, leaving Brazil with 769, 967 active cases of Coronavirus.

    The United Kingdom has knocked out Russia from the 4th place in the league of countries most affected, now reporting  3, 957, 123 confirmed cases, 112, 681 deaths, while 10, 203 patients have been assisted to the point of recovery, leaving the UK with 3, 834, 239 Coronavirus patients to contend with(15, 880 new and 376 deaths*), followed by Russia which has documented 3, 923,461 confirmed cases, 75, 430 patients have passed on while 3, 418,329 others have recovered and therefore discharged, leaving Russia with 429, 702 active cases of Coronavirus(15, 808 new and 420 deaths*) and France with 3, 395,981 confirmations, 79, 111 deaths, while 239, 183 patients have been treated and discharged, leaving France with 3, 077, 687 active cases of Coronavirus(19, 715 new and 171 deaths*).

    Spain remains the 7th country worst hit, reporting 2, 941,990  all time cases, 61, 366 patients have passed on while only 150, 376 others have been discharged after treatment, leaving Spain with 2, 730, 248 active cases of Coronavirus, followed  Italy which has reported  2, 636, 738 confirmed cases,  91, 273 deaths, while 2,118,441 others have been treated and discharged, leaving Italy with 427, 024 active cases of Coronavirus(11,640 new and 270 deaths*) and Turkey with 2, 531,456 confirmations, 26, 797 patients are already dead, while 2, 440,706 others have been treated and discharged, leaving Turkey with 63, 953 active cases of Coronavirus(6670 new and 112 deaths*).

    Germany remains the 10th country most affected, with 2, 291,599 cases already recorded, 61, 602 patients already dead, while 2,042,959 others have recovered and subsequently discharged. Germany is now left with 187, 038 active cases of the pandemic(6596 new and 213 deaths*) and South Africa, now the 15th country worst hit, reporting 1, 473,700 total infections, 46, 180 patients have died from the virus, while 1, 340,497 others have been treated and discharged, leaving South Africa with 87,023 active cases of Coronavirus.
