It was a robust weekend for filmmakers with major distributors making one of the highest returns in box office sales with a record that would endure for a very long time. This notwithstanding, the Grand Budapest Hotel which is now five weeks at the box office walked its way up into the top five movies at the box office.

Put together by Fox Studios, the Grand Budapest Hotel raked in $6.3 million from 1,263 film viewing centres in the US to hit number 5 at the box office.

Coming in at number 4 is God’s Not Dead, which is a production of Freestyle Studios. That film made $7.726 million from 1, 758 theatres in the US to retain that spot on the box office chart. Just a little bit ahead at number 3 is Divergent which is just two weeks at the box office.

A production of Lions Gate Studios, the film grossed $13 million from 3,631 cinemas where it was exhibited in the US to make it to that spot on the chart.

Noah which was number one last week was pushed to number 2 this week when sales fell to $17 million from 3, 571 cinemas it was exhibited in the US to retain the second position on the chart.

But the most patronized movie at the box office remains Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which was produced by Buena Vista. The film made $96.2 million after passing through 3,938 theatres in the US to emerge as the hottest movie at the box office.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier was put together with the sum of $170 million Dollars yet it was able to make a whopping $96.2 million Dollars in just one week at the box office.
