AN 81-YEAR-OLD French grandmother has jilted traditional retirement plans by flying thousands of miles to West Africa to meet her 24-year-old fiancé.
The smitten OAP, whose names are still kept secret made the journey to Senegal to spend time with her youthful husband-to-be before bringing him back to France for a whirlwind September wedding.
Despite a massive 57-year age gap, the jet-setting retiree insists she has found true love with the West African youngster, who is less than a third of her age.
The pair are now packing their bags to return to France together, where they are putting the final touches on their autumn nuptials.
Their cross-continental love story has stunned friends and family, but the couple are determined to walk down the aisle next month regardless of what critics say.
A source close to the pair said: “They couldn’t care less about the decades between them. They are totally head over heels and can’t wait to make it official in France.”
