ONITSHA, Anambra, Nigeria – Senator Uche Ekwunife, representing Anambra Central Senatorial District has vowed that she will take Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) to Anambra State Government House, if given the party’s ticket.
Senator Uche Ekwunife who addressed PDP ward chairmen over her ambition to be governor, at the weekend in Awka, the Anambra State capital said, she has the capacity and capability to defeat all the candidates put together from other parties.
“This election is war, this is not ordinary election, we are going to battle to remove the party in power and when you are going for such battle, you don’t need your second best but your best. We cannot put our best on bench. Our target is government house, we must go with our best, the tested, trusted and okayed to deliver, which is me.
“Let us do what will take us to the government house and I am presenting myself to seek the number one position in the state and I will take PDP to the Agu Awka Government House because I know that I have the capacity and capability to win election for PDP.

“Once I have your ticket, I will win election for you. If you want government house , Iyom will give you government house and if I have the PDP’s ticket, let all the political parties in Anambra state present one candidate, I will defeat them. I don’t think I have much challenges winning election. All I need is your support and ticket, I will be there, I have done it before and I will do it again.
“Give me your ticket, that is all I asked and it is the partnership that will take us to government house. Character in election is very important” Senator Uche Ekwunife said.
According to Ekwunife, PDP is lucky that the present governor Chief Willie Obiano is not a politician, saying that if Willie Obiano was a politician PDP would not survive in the state.
“We have to thank God that Obiano is not a politician, if politician take over government house under All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), PDP may not survive it . If I becomes the governor of Anambra state today, other parties will join PDP.
“We have been in opposition in the state for the last 16 years, we cannot continue being opposition in Anambra state” she said.
On the issue of zoning the governorship to south, Ekwunife said that the zoning favours her most because she is from Anambra South Senatorial District and married to a man in Anambra-North senatorial.
” Some people said there is zoning, assuming and not conceding there is zoning, though, PDP said there is no zoning, but if Anambra people say there is zoning, it favours me most. Women have dual citizenship. I am from Anambra South and married to Anambra Central. A woman can represent her people either from her place of birth or her husband’s place” Uche Ekwunife stated.
