    Bam Bam of BBN takes new role in Jagagba

    LAGOS, Nigeria – Bamike Olawunmi (Bam Bam), the lovely lady of the last Big Brother Naija(BBN) show tagged double wahala has taken a new role in a play titled Jagagba. She is starring in the play with the likes of Kunle Coker, Mawuyon Ogun, Ese Lami George, Olarotimi Fakunle, Eden Attai and Kelvinmary Ndukwe.

    Jagagba captures the conflict of traditional society with interplays of political metaphors and social contradictions.

    Jagagba explores the quandary familial ties, the complexity of policy iteration and the perceived gap between evolving cultures including relevant social issues such as the societal value of women, female inclusion, security, and co-existence.

    Abdul-Qudus Ibrahim is a native of Kogi State with a Bachelor’s degree in Banking and Finance from Covenant University. He has a passion and flair for writing and is really excited his  Play emerged winner. “I can’t believe this is happening for me,” his said. 
     
    This is the second edition of the  Beeta Playwright Competition (BPC) owned by Bikiya-Graham Douglas’sBeeta Universal Arts Foundation (BUAF). Bikiya, who is also the producer of the play, created the foundation based on her love for the performing arts and as an avenue to create opportunities for young people to develop their talent and tell original Nigerian stories. 

    Jagagba is a product of award-winning actress and producer Bikiya Graham-Douglas, who manages Beeta Universal Arts Foundation (BUAF).
     
    BUAF ran the Beeta Playwrights Competition national callouts for play entries in August 2018. After 5 weeks and 348 entries received from 30 states, a panel of 6 judges, led by the former Director General of the National Theatre, Prof. Ahmed Yerima, selected 10 finalists. All 10 finalists attended a 1-day playwriting workshop by Prof. Yerima, which was followed by the grand finale with Abdul-Qudus Ibrahim’s play “Jagagba” emerging the winner. After a One Million Naira prize and a publishing deal, Abdul-Qudus’ play Jagagba hits the stage. 

    The play comes up on Friday, July 19th – 7 pm, Saturday, July 20th – 3 pm and 7 pm and Sunday, July 21st – 3 pm and 7 pm  at the Agip Recital Hall, Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos.
