THE death toll in Gaza has surpassed a grim new milestone of 72,000 as health officials warned that the humanitarian crisis is spiralling further out of control.
New figures released today by the Palestinian Ministry of Health reveal that 72,317 people have now been killed since the conflict erupted on October 7, 2023.
In a chilling 24-hour update, medics confirmed another two deaths and 21 injuries arriving at local hospitals. However, officials fear the true number of casualties is significantly higher, with hundreds of victims trapped under the twisted metal and concrete of destroyed buildings.
Emergency crews say they are being blocked from reaching those buried alive. A spokesperson for the Ministry of Health stated:
”A number of victims are still under the rubble and on the roads. Ambulance and civil defense crews are unable to reach them until now.”
Despite a ceasefire being declared on October 11, 2025, the violence has clearly failed to cease entirely. In the six months since that truce was signed, a staggering 738 martyrs have been recorded, proving that the region remains a tinderbox.
The scale of the devastation is laid bare in the latest statistics:
Total Martyrs: 72,317
Total Injured: 172,158
Recent Casualties: 23 (in the last 24 hours)
The conflict began following the October 7 attacks in 2023, triggering a massive military response from Israel. What followed has been years of urban warfare that has flattened much of the Gaza Strip.
While world leaders successfully brokered a ceasefire in late 2025, today’s figures highlight the “fragile” nature of the peace. Over 2,000 injuries have been reported since the truce began, with recovery teams still pulling bodies from the debris of previous bombardments.
International aid agencies continue to call for an immediate and permanent end to the hostilities as the injury toll edges toward 175,000, leaving the territory’s crippled healthcare system on the brink of total collapse.
