LONDON, UK – A SEVENTH police officer has been suspended from duty as the sickening scandal engulfing Charing Cross Police Station widens.
The disgraced PC was immediately hit with the suspension after shocking new footage, unseen by the public, was handed to watchdogs.
The bombshell clip allegedly shows the officer, attached to the Central West Command Unit, making “inappropriate comments” about the use of force against a detainee.
The sickening new allegations come just weeks after the BBC’s Panorama exposé blew the lid off the Metropolitan Police’s culture of vile behaviour.
The latest suspension brings the total number of officers investigated to seven, as the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) ramps up its probe.
The explosive footage that led to the latest action was shared privately by the BBC with the IOPC, who then flagged it to the Met’s own professionalism division.
A new referral was made, and the officer was suspended TOTS UP yesterday.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Andy Valentine, who is leading the Met’s fight to clean up its act, slammed the behaviour.
He vowed swift action, saying: “We moved swiftly to act upon this new footage to identify the officer involved and immediately suspend him from duty.
”We have been very clear the behaviour of officers and staff as filmed by the BBC is unacceptable.”
The Met has already taken the axe to its ranks, sacking SIX officers in just five weeks over the “appalling conduct” caught on camera. More misconduct hearings are scheduled to follow.
DAC Valentine added: “The robust action we are taking is part of our tireless work to raise standards and improve the culture across our organisation.”
The scandal has rocked confidence in the capital’s police force, with officers accused of making racist, sexist, and homophobic slurs on duty.
The IOPC confirmed the fresh allegations will now be rolled into its ongoing investigation into the conduct of the Charing Cross officers.
