ABUJA, Nigeria – Ahead of the February 2022 Federal Capital Territory (FCT) councils election, more than 15,000 members of All Progressives Congress (APC) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have dumped their parties for the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA).

Apparently disgruntled by the style of leadership of the incumbent Chairman and candidate of PDP, Hon. John Gabaya Shekwogaza, the decampees cited lack of inclusiveness, blatant marginalisation, underdevelopment and gross corruption as parts of reasons for dumping their various parties and pitch their tent with APGA.

Speaking at the Ceremony that also marked the official presentation of the APGA flag to the Chairman and Vice Chairmanship candidates, the FCT Chairman of the party said APGA will continue to spread it tentacles to other parts of the country contrary to believe that the party is limited to Eastern Nigeria, stressing that APGA is a national political party that is committed to the welfare of the generality of Nigerians.

“The turn up here today from all the 10 wards in Bwari area council is a testament that our candidate here is not joking. He has the capacity to win this election. I’m impressed All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) is already in FCT. We have won election in Gwagwalada area council before, we have stakeholders in AMAC and other candidates certain to win elections in 2022. We also have a strong candidate in Gwagwalada area council as well.”

In his remarks, the Chairmanship candidate of the APGA for the February council poll in Bwari, Hon. Abubakar Sadiq Abdullahi called on his supporters to join him to end sectional and tribalistic government in Bwari Area Council.

According to him, “time has come for citizens to begin to reap the benefits of good governance that APGA will provide from 2022.”

“As we join hands to win this election you are voting for your victory, you are voting for your prosperity, you are voting for good governance by the grace of God. Marginalization in the area council is out of this world. Bwari has witnessed Gbagyi domination in the past 21 years, all the council’s executives and key positions are manned by Gbagyi, you don’t run a government like that.”

“The turnout you are seeing here today is a child play, there are thousands of our supporters that couldn’t make it here today, we are ready and prepared to win this election”, he added.

“I believe in God and the work my Principal has done” said the Vice Chairmanshio candidate of APGA in Bwari, Hon. Onyeka Ani. He further stressed that ” I want to tell our visitors that the crowd here today are genuine members of APGA in Bwari area council. All of us here believe in Hon. Abubakar Abdullahi. My Igbo brothers have assured me that we are going to win this election with their support.”

His position was corroborated by the FCT Secretary of APGA, High Chief Stanley Agwara who said he is amazed by what he witnessed in the area council. He expressed his joy at the spirit of brotherhood demonstrated by APGA members and the decampees.”

Imam Umar Bin Mohammed, the vice chairman of APGA, Bwari area council said political parties are not about religion or section but the people should be at the centre of our politics.

“What you are just seeing is a scratch on the surface, we are just starting, what will come next is more than this because our assignment is purely focused on ’10 to bring 100′ what you will see tomorrow will triple this one”

In an interview with The Summit, the Chairman of APGA in Bwari Area Council, Comrade Ugonana Dominion said the people have realized that nobody can emancipate them from the social political slavery.

“The people have decided to on their own pick that virgin political institution that has always deliver. I take you back to 2016, we won chairmanship for Gwagwalada area council and we transformed the Local government”.

He added that “this is not just a decamping programme but the burial ceremony of APC and PDP in Bwari area council because they have done more harm than good to this good people.”

According to Comrade Dominion, the people have chosen APGA and come 2022, the vote of the people will speak. “As I speak with you people are registering in mass and are saying Honourable Abubakar Abdullahi, a grassroot person is super qualified to liberate them. The cock will crow in February, 2022 and there will be a new dawn in Bwari area council. There will be something better than the usual and we have come to give the people the true dividend of democracy”, he concluded
