WASHINGTON, US- President-elect of the United States of American, Joe Biden has picked General Lloyd Austin as his Secretary of Defence. In  a statement announcing his decision, Biden said in the many hours he spent together with Lloyd Austin in the situation room with  troops, he was able to witnesses General Austin’s character.

General Austin, he said shares his belief that “ we are strongest when we lead not only by the example of our power, but by the power of our example”, he said.

“In the many hours we’ve spent together in the Situation Room and with our troops—I’ve witnessed General Austin’s character.

“He shares my belief that we are strongest when we lead not only by the example of our power, but by the power of our example”, Joe Biden said.

Lloyd Austin, a retired 4 star general  was born August 8, 1953. He served as the 12th Commander of United States Central Command(CENTCOM)  and became the first black CENTCOM commander.

Lloyd Austin graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He later obtained a Master of Arts Degree in Counselor Education from  Auburn University’s College of Education in 1986.

Lloyd Austin also holds a Masters Degree of Business Administration  in Business Management from Webster University in 1989. He led his  troops to war in Afghanistan and Iraq.
