PORT HARCOURT, River, Nigeria – Embattled Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has paid a courtesy call to the of River State Governor, Mr. Nyesom Wike.
Governor Godwin Obaseki was denied a second term ticket by the All Progressive Congress (APC). He has been having issues with Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, national chairman of the party, leading to his eventual disqualification.
According to the APC, Governor Godwin Obaseki whom Oshomhole in 2015 described as a well educated person that has helped in setting up many banks and brought into APC to help to run the government was no longer qualified.
According to APC, Godwin Obaseki has forged his qualification. Oshiomhole spoke when the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP went to court to seek Obaseki’s disqualification. Hear Obaseki speak about Godwin Obaseki in this VIDEO.
However, the disqualification of Obaseki has brought him some measure of sympathy and goodwill from people in Benin and other places. He is alleged to have been making overtures to PDP. Nyesom Wike is a PDP governor.
This meeting in Port Harcourt is expected to be part of his consolidation towards a possible decampment to the PDP.
