Anambra inducts 1051 batch ‘C’ Stream 11 NYSC members

ONITSHA, Nigeria – Anambra State National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) has sworn in  1051 corps members deployed to the state for the 2019 Batch ‘C’ Stream 11. The  State NYSC co-ordinator, Mr. Aremu Kehinde  made  this known during the opening ceremony  of the Batch C Stream 11 orientation course for corps member deployed to Anambra state at its  new Mbakwu-Umuawulu camp on Monday.

Aremu said  that, at the close of registration last night, a total numbers of 1051 were registered on the camp. According to him, out of the total numbers of corps member registered, 482 were males,while 569 were females. He stated that the corps members have displayed uncommon sense  of patriotism, discipline and loyalty to constituted authority since they arrived.

“They have been exceptional ambassadors of their respective families and Alma Mater and also have been receptive to instructions and have shown promises of being worthy representatives of NYSC and it’s ideals” he added. He told the corps members that their services year represents a new phase of life, where they will join club of the Nigerian elites .

According to him, over the three weeks they will stay in the camp, corps members will have the opportunity of being expose to citizenship and lesderships training, paramilitary trainings, the culture, tradition and norms of the people of Anambra state.

He also told them that they would be trained on skills needed to mobilise  human and materials resources for community development, basic first aid and rescue skills, fire prevention and several others that would make them better citizens.

“In the next few days,the skills acquisition and entrepreneurship trainings will start in the camp,I encourage you all to take advantage of the opportunity to prepare yourselves for prosperous  post- NYSC period. The future starts now” he said.

The governor of the State, Chief Willie Obiano represented by the Head of Service to the government, Mr. Harry Uduh  thanked the corps members  for their contributions to state over the years. According to Obiano, NYSC  has made  enormous contributions to the development of the state, especially in the area of education, rural infrastructure, health-care delivery and agricultural sector.

He challenged the new corps members to exceed  the performances of  the previous corps members  deployed in the state before them. According to him, they can only exceed their predecessors performances, if  only they align their thoughts and efforts towards the state government’s productive and developmental  drive, through a seamless integration with host communities.

He charged them to actively engage in skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development programmes which will give them the opportunity to undergo trainings in job-place readiness and life enhancing skills
