NIGERIA – The Independent National Electoral Election(INEC) today declared candidates of the All Progressive Congress(APC) winner of the governorship election in the November 16, 2019 election in Bayelsa and Kogi State.
In Bayelsa State, David Lyon of APC won in 6 out of the 8 local government areas and scored 352,552 votes while the PDP candidate, Douye Diri polled 143,172.
Bayelsa State Governor, Henry Dickson has cried fowl, describing the election as marred with violence even when he has himself to blame for failing to listen to advice of elders.
In Kogi State, Yayaha Bello polled 406,222 votes to defeat Musa Wada of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who scored just 189,704 votes.
But the election in Kogi has drawn wide condemnation from both opposition politician and the international community. The European Union has described the election as marked by violence and vote buying.
Both the PDP and the Social Democratic Party have also described the election as marked by violence and killings.
