LONDON, United Kingdom – Founder Wikileaks, Julian Assange was today arrested for a second time, this time on extradition request from the United States of America. London Metropolitan Police said the second arrest is on behalf of the United States.
The police explained that his arrest is connected with an extradition warrant under Section 73 of the Extradition Act. “He will appear in custody at Westminster Magistrates’ Court as soon as possible”, the met police said.
Julian Assange was earlier today arrested from the Ecuadorian embassy in London where he has resided for over 7 years.
The Ecuadorian Ambassador to London invited the police to the embassy to carry out the arrest after withdrawing his asylum status.
He was then bundled by dozens of policemen into a waiting van. Prior to the arrest, Wikileaks had revealed that a highpowered officer at the Ecuadorian embassy had informed it of plans to arrest its founder on agreement with the United Kingdom.

Julian Assange, 47, (03.07.71) has today, Thursday 11 April, been further arrested on behalf of the United States authorities, at 10:53hrs after his arrival at a central London police station.
This is an extradition warrant under Section 73 of the Extradition Act. He will appear in custody at Westminster Magistrates’ Court as soon as possible.
