NAF officers lying in state at National Military Cemetery

ABUJA, Nigeria – Nigerian Air Force(NAF) officers who died when their helicopter crashed in the north-east have been buried. They were buried at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja. The affected officers are Flt Lt Perowei Jacob, Flt Lt Kaltho Kilyofas, Sgt Auwal Ibrahim, LCpl Adamu Nura & ACM Meshack Ishmael.

“Flt Lt Perowei Jacob, Flt Lt Kaltho Kilyofas, Sgt Auwal Ibrahim, LCpl Adamu Nura & ACM Meshack Ishmael paid the supreme price in service to our great nation when their NAF Mi-35M Heli crashed on 2 Jan 19 while providing close air support to troops of 145 Bn Damasak Borno State”, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola said in a statement.

“They were buried with full military honours for sacrificing their today to secure a better tomorrow for all Nigerians. The NAF and the entire Nation owe them an unending debt of gratitude. We pray that God continues to comfort their families & grant their souls peaceful repose”, he added.

He said the Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali was joined at the ceremony by other Service Chiefs, serving/retired officers as well as friends and family members to pay last respects to 5 heroes as they were buried today at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja.
