WUSE, Abuja, Nigeria – The Nigerian Football Federation(NFF) has withdrawn the clearance earlier given to NFF 2nd Vice President, Alhaji Aminu Maigari to contest the position of the NFF President.
The NFF withdrew the earlier clearance based on petition it received against Maigari that there are contradictions in the two Grade III certificates he submitted to the NFF Electoral Committee in contravention of Article 5(1) i of the NFF Electoral Act.
The NFF electoral committee however decided to give him provisional clearance allow him to participate in the election.
In a statement, Muhammad Sani Katu, Chairman of the committee, said that Maigari failed to produced originals of the certificates as he promised on September 18, 2018 and that though the committee discovered discrepancies in the documents, it could not reach a unanimous decision on his disqualification and had to resort to voting.
He said that during voting, 3 of the 5 members committee voted in his favour hence his name was included in the list of presidential candidates released by the NFF.
