IKOYI, Lagos, Nigeria – Former Minister of Aviation and Director General Jonathan Sambo Campaign Organisation, Mr. Femi Fani Kayode is physically sick and his ailment has to do with his heart, a Federal High Court, sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos has been told.




Fani-Kayode lawyer, Mr. Norrison Quakers, SAN, who informed the court said his client was out of jurisdiction due to his state of health and pleaded for short adjourned date to enable him furnish the court with Fani-Kayode’s medical report pointing out that Fani-kayode is suffering from heart related diseases.

In his reaction, EFCC counsel, Mr. Rotimi Ojo who did not opposed the application urged the court to have it on record that Fani-kayode has utilised two adjournment out of the five provided by law for counsel in criminal trial.

Fani-Kayode alongside former Minister of State for Finance, Senator Nenadi Usman, one Danjuma Yusuf and a company, Joint Trust Dimensions Limited are standing trial for about N5 billion fraud.

The 17 counts charges against them border on conspiracy, unlawful retention of proceeds of theft and money laundering. Fani-Kayode was accused of conspiring with the others to, directly and indirectly, retain various sums, which the EFCC claimed they ought to have reasonably known were proceeds of crime.

EFCC said they allegedly committed the offence between January 8 and March 25, 2015 ahead of the 2015 general election.
