ANAMBRA, Nigeria – The newly appointed Transition Committee (TC) Chairman of Anambra West Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra State, Hon Tony Collins Nwabunwanne, has declared that nothing would stop the victory of Governor Willie Obiano in the November 18, 2017 governorship election holding in Anambra State.
Hon. Nwabunwanne who made the remark while speaking in an interview, said Obiano’s victory was sure on account of his outstanding records and achievements which, according to him, are there for everyone to see.
His words: “The victory of Governor Willie Obiano for second term is a forgone conclusion. It is hundred percent certain that he would emerge victorious because our people have made up their minds that nobody can come and deceive them as the November 18 Governorship polls get closer.
They have seen the sterling leadership qualities of our able and dynamic governor, whose excellent performance in the last three years has taken Anambra State to the next level, such that it has become the cynosure of all eyes. Everybody now wants to associate with Anambra State because of the governor’s performance. Many have continued to wonder how he has been doing it, paying salaries as at when due, yet embarking on the execution of landmark projects, putting smiles on the faces of the Anambra people despite the lean resources at his disposal.”
On his appointment as the TC Chairman of Anambra West LGA, Nwabunwanne, a former Deputy Majority Leader of Anambra State House of Assembly said: “Let me use this opportunity to thank His Excellency, Governor Willie Obiano for finding me worthy for this great assignment. I will remain eternally grateful to him for giving me yet another opportunity to serve my people in Anambra West Local Government Area. I also want to thank my former colleagues at the Anambra State House of Assembly for their smooth confirmation of the appointment.
The appointment actually came as a surprise because the 21 of us that were announced never knew about it until we met at the screening. The governor obviously made the right choices in the appointment of the TC chairmen for the 21 local government areas of the state. With the caliber of those appointed, people who have won elections in the past and are grassroots mobilizers, I have no doubt in my mind that we will all live up to expectation in the discharge of our duties and responsibilities by delivering the dividends of democracy to our people at the grassroots.”
Nwabunwanne, a banker turned politician who until his appointment was the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Governor Obiano on political matters and once represented Anambra West State Constituency, maintained that “APGA is the only party that can win election in Anambra State. APGA has come to stay in Anambra State.
The only task before us is to ensure that we take over the entire South East while also striving to make inroad into other parts of the country. But first we must do everything possible to capture the whole of Southeast. APGA is Igbo identity as far as Nigerian politics is concerned. Most prominent politicians from the Southeast even those in other political parties have attested to this fact.”
