March 3, 2015 – The House of Representatives today adopted a motion to forestall further shift in the date of general elections.
The elections were initially fixed for February 14 and 28 but was shifted to March 28 and April 11, 2015.
Moving the motion, Chairman House Committee on Justice, Dr. Ali Ahmed prayed the house to inquire into any individual or group or agency that advocates for further postponement of the election.
He said the motion becomes necessary following speculations about further shift in the election date adding that tempering with the current date could further precipitate the need for further shift.
But responding to the motion, Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Leo Ogor said the motion is speculative adding that there was no need to move a motion based on ordinary hearsay and prayed that the motion should not be adopted by the house.
