February 27, 2015 – The Yoruba nation has identified true federalism as the only solution to the myriads of problems confronting Nigeria.
This is one of the resolutions reached at the just concluded second post- Confab conference held in Ibadan, South West Nigeria.
The Yoruba leaders said the full implementation of the report of the 2014 National Conference is imperative to achieve true federalism.
Speaking at the conference, the convener and Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Oni said true federalism remains the pedestal upon which the dream of every Yoruba person lies.
He canvassed for true federalism where every Nigerian will be in charge of resources within its territory.
Participants who spoke at the conference noted that the change needed at this moment is not the change in personality but a change in the constitution of Nigeria.
In his remarks, Former Foreign Affairs Minister, Professor Bolaji Akiyemi noted that indeed any Yoruba person that is interested in the progress of this nation should work for the reelection of President Goodluck Jonathan.
Also speaking, former Minister for Justice, Chief Richard Akinjide said the Yoruba nation has resolved to full back the reelection of President Goodluck Jonathan adding that his reelection remains the only way to guarantee full implementation of the confab report.
The ten point communique is jointly drafted by Afenifere, technocrats, members of the academia and the civil societies.
