January 16, 2015 – Late Dr. Beko Ransome Kuti’s widow Abosede has marked her 70th birthday in collaboration with the Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK).
The event was held at Baptist Academy Grammar School, Obanikoro, Lagos.
In his goodwill message at the occasion, Governor Babatunde Fashola, who was represented by the Managing Director of LASPARK, Dr. (Mrs.) Titi Anibaba, stated that the celebrant has joined the league of Lagosians like Dr. Newton Jibunoh, who
had previously marked their birthdays with tree planting events.
He explained that this gesture is far more rewarding as it will make the environment safer, healthier and beneficial to generation yet unborn.
Fashola extolled the virtues of the celebrant and praised her resolve to key into the vision of environmental regeneration and renewal of the present administration through operation green Lagos, even at the ripe age of 70.
He therefore enjoined other dignitaries to emulate the celebrant’s rare gesture adding that this will represent the little that the her generation can give back to nature.
In her response, the celebrant expressed gratitude to God for sparing her life noting that the tree planting event is the best way to give back to the society and the biggest form of celebration she could ever wish for.
While expressing her appreciation to the State Government for giving her the necessary support, she thanked all well-wishers who were present at the occasion for making the event a success.
Dignitaries present at the event include the former Military Administrator of Lagos
state, Rtd. Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu, who was the chairman of the occasion, and other top State Government officials.
