December 11, 2014 – Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Mr. Jimi Agbaje has apologized to his fellow constants who lost in the PDP primaries for misrepresentation of facts by his publicist.
According to Agbaje, the contestants never agreed to add omitted delegates as presented in an earlier statement by his publicist.
He reached out to those aggrieved by the result of the primaries telling them to join hands with him to build a PDP that can wrest power from the All Progressive Congress(APC) in Lagos.
“This is not the time to be a divided party, but time to come together to strengthen the party”, he said.
It will be recalled that Agbaje scored 432 votes to defeat his closest rival, Senator Musliu Obanikoro who scored 343 votes.
However the addition of 53 delegates to the poll has been the bone of contention between the two leading candidates. Eight hundred and three, 803 delegates were accredited for the election whereas there were 856 votes.
However analysts have also argued that rather than total cancellation, deduction of 53 votes from that of Agbaje could put the whole matter to rest. But that will put Agbaje’s votes at 379 which does not make any difference anyway.
