October 17, 2014 – Nigerians have been called upon to support the Federal Government in the fight against the radical Islamic Sect, Boko Haram.
President of Ghana, Dr. John Dramani Mahama made the revelation in Abuja after a meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan on security situation in Nigeria and Ebola Virus Disease in the sub region.
Briefing State House Correspondent after the meeting, Mahama called on Nigerians to join hand with the Federal Government in the fight against the radical Islamic sect, Boko Haram, warning that a troubled Nigeria will unsettle countries in the West African region.
Mahama who said that Nigeria currently has the largest economy in Africa commended the Federal Government’s proactive approach in tackling the dread Ebola Virus Disease(EVD). He said the way the Nigerian government and the people contained the ailment has become a reference point all over the world on how to contain the ailment in an urban centre.
He said that Nigeria is currently assisting and leading the way on how to contain the aliment adding that an emergency meeting of the ECOWAS heads of state would hold in the first week of November, where the leaders would be given an update on the efforts in containing the Ebola virus in the region.
