Lagos State Governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola on Monday received the 2013 one-day governor, Master Boadey Olajuwon Folarin at Alausa, Lagos, urging him to always remember the significance of the day and ensure that he does not engage in anything less dignifying than what the office demands of him.
The governor who spoke at a special State Executive Council session held at the Lagos House, Ikeja noted that the honour done to Master Folarin would encourage him to aim higher. He stressed that the one-day governor and his cabinet members all have a responsibility to be good ambassadors of their schools and urged them to always study hard and be good students.
He was happy that all the winners are products of public secondary schools in Lagos State, and assured that work is ongoing to ensure an improvement in the quality of the facilities obtainable in the schools.
While congratulating the one day governor for emerging winner at the 2013 Spelling Bee competition, the governor said he has become a proud member of a rich legacy which is waxing stronger. Fashola told him that many of his predecessors are now graduates who are proving their mettle in their chosen fields of endeavours and doing well for themselves.
Fashola said decision making during executive session is driven by thorough consideration of memoranda before arriving at a consensus with every member having a voting right and that each member has a right to initiate a memoranda to the council which would be thoroughly debated.
He said that government is always concerned about ensuring that it endorses policies that will bring about the greatest good to the greatest number of the citizens.
Speaking earlier, the 2013 one day governor, Folarin expressed his appreciation and that of his entire cabinet to Fashola for the good work he is doing.
He said that Fashola has become a reference point when good governance is being talked about and urged the residents to continue to support the present administration in the state towards making it a model mega city.
The Governor later presented prizes to the One Day Governor and members of his cabinet.The One-Day Governor was accompanied by his Deputy, Mr Abolaji Abdulrahaman, the Speaker of the House, Mr Monye Marvelous, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Miss Olayinka Olajide, Works, Master Toheeb Tijani, Education, Master Ejide Temitope, Information and Strategy, Master Ajimoti Samuel and Science and Technology, Master Okoduwa Israel.
