Filmmakers continued to record robust sales figures for new films at the box office even when total sales for the leading film fell below the 90 million Dollar mark.

Nevertheless, Fault in Our Stars which was number 1 last week was pushed to the rear to occupy number 5 after sales tumbled to $15.725 million from the 3, 273 viewing centres where it was exhibited in the US.

Just ahead in number 4 is Edge of Tomorrow, which recorded sales to the tune of $ 16.175 million from 3, 505 cinemas in the US to retain number 4 on the chart. Maleficent, which is two weeks old on the big screen scooped a little over 19 million Dollars from 3, 623 theatres where it put up a show in the US.

How to Train Your Dragon, a new film which showed up at the box office at the weekend occupied the second position on the chart. Put together by Fox Pictures, the movie gleaned $50 million from 4, 253 cinema outfits where it was presented to members of the public in the US.

But the most patronized movie in weekend sales was 22 Jump Street, put together for distribution by Sony Pictures. That movie grossed a total sum of $60 million from a tour of 3, 306 film viewing centres in the US to hit number 1 in box office sales.
