VILLA PARK, BIRMINGHAM – Aston Villa cemented their status as a fortress this afternoon, delivering a dazzling 4-0 demolition of AFC Bournemouth in a Premier League encounter at their historic ground.

The comprehensive victory saw Unai Emery’s side continue their formidable run of form at Villa Park, a venue that is increasingly becoming the Premier League’s most intimidating destination.

The win was a classic example of home-turf advantage in action, with the fervent Birmingham crowd driving the Villans to a scintillating performance.

Bournemouth, who had shown promise in recent weeks, simply couldn’t handle the intensity of a side playing with such confidence in their own backyard.

Villa took a two-goal lead into the break, thanks to an unstoppable free-kick from Emiliano Buendia and a close-range finish from Amadou Onana. But the Cherries were handed a lifeline early in the second half when they won a penalty.

However, ‘keeper Emi Martínez proved the hero, saving Antoine Semenyo’s spot-kick and sending a jolt of energy through the Holte End.

From that moment on, the three points were never in doubt.

Substitutes Ross Barkley and Donyell Malen both got on the scoresheet late on, adding gloss to the scoreline and emphasising the depth of Emery’s squad.

The result further highlights the transformation of Villa Park into a genuine bastion under Emery. Since the start of last season, Villa’s home form has been nothing short of sensational, with the team rarely dropping points in front of their passionate supporters.

The famous old stadium, one of the Premier League’s most traditional and atmospheric grounds, appears to have found its bite again, with visiting teams now facing a daunting prospect every time they step onto the pitch in Birmingham.

The win moves Villa level on points with Bournemouth, leapfrogging them on goal difference, and firmly back in the fight for a European spot.
