    Graduates 49 students with first class honours

    AWKA, Anambra, Nigeria – Nnamdi Azikiwe University (Unizik), Awka Anambra state will on Thursday confer Doctorate Degree on the dethroned Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi, Chairman of Innoson Motors, Chief Innocent Chukwuma and Chairman of​ Dozzy groups, Daniel Chukwudozie at its 14th convocation ceremony.

    This was disclosed by the Vice Chancellor of the Unizik, Prof. Charles Esimone,while briefing journalists on the activities lined up for the 14th convocation ceremony of the institution at​ its senate chamber today.

    He said the awardees are being honoured in recognition of their outstanding contributions to development of the society and the nation’s education sector. According Esimone, Sanusi​ will be​ conferred with the​ Doctorate Degree in​ ​ ​ Risk Management.

    He said Sanusi as the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria impacted positively on the nation’s education sector through his numerous policies as CBN Governor.

    Esimone said​ during the period Sanusi was CBN Governor he built a facility worth​ N500 million in Unizik and many others things he did to the institution and others across the country. He said the Emir had seriously contributed his quota to development of Nigeria, especially in the area of human capital development, hence deserving of the recognition.

    While Chief Innocent Chukwuma will be honoured with Doctorates Degree in Industrial Engineering in recognition of his​ immense contributions to the nation’s development through his chains of companies,which include Innoson motors.

    According to the Vice Chancellor, Chairman of Innoson​ Motors had alleviated transport problems for​ students and staff in the university by making donation of various vehicles for their use.

    According to him, Innoson Motors is planning to build in the university one​ of the best car diagnostic centre in the country and the centre would be run by the students for their trainings. While the chairman of Dozzy Groups will be conferred with the Doctorate Degree in Commence in recognition of his numerous, contributions​ to the university and human capital development in the country.

    According to him, Chukwudozie has done so much for the university in his efforts to leap jump the institution to a greater height. He said Dozzy groups established​ paint factory in the university and the factory has been helping in training students on entrepreneurship skills.

    “All the paints we are using in the school today are sourced from the factory and even all the paints we used to paint the university at the convocation are sourced from the factory” he said. He also disclosed that​ 9,571 students will be convocated at the ceremony, among​ them 49 with first class honours, 2821​ ​ postgraduates, while 6,750 others will be honoured with first degrees
