Two Ebola Virus Patients Discharged From Lagos Isolation Centre

August 26, 2014 – Two patients infected with Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) currently in isolation at the Lagos Centre have been certified free of the disease and have been subsequently discharged from the centre.

Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu who made the revelation at a press conference in Abuja said that one person out of the three confirmed cases is now left at the isolation centre in Yaba, Lagos. He said those discharged were a medical doctor and a nurse.

He said the patient left is doing well. He made the remarks in Abuja just as Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris said that 7 have recovered from the centre in Lagos adding that recovery is faster if those who develop symptoms of Ebola are brought early enough to the centre.

He said there are currently two cases in isolation centre, one suspect and one confirmed.
