August 26, 2014 – A stalwart of the All Progressive Congress(APC) Chief Tom Ikimi has dumped the APC following his maltreatment in the party. According to news monitored on Channels, Ikimi did not state the reason for dumping the party.
He is however one of the founding fathers of APC who worked day a night to ensure that the party was registered by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Ikimi wanted to vie for chairman of the party upon registration but was alleged to have been prevailed upon by national leader of the party, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu to drop his ambition for the former governor of Edo State, Mr. John Odigie Oyegun who later emerged as chairman of the party.
What followed was his publication in national dailies denouncing the party and claiming that APC was a personal property of Tinubu and that of the former Head of State, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.
